Default Does the sponsor have to submit their passport when applying for a Family Permit?

Hey all,

My wife (non EU) and I (EU) are going through the SS route at the moment. We are looking to apply for a Family Permit soon. Unfortunately I travel internationally several times a month in my current work, and would prefer not to have to 'lose' my passport for two or three weeks.

This link: https://www.gov.uk/government/upload...ily-permit.pdf suggests that only a copy of the sponsors passport is needed to prove my nationality

(Evidence of your sponsor’s nationality
This could be copies of:
  • bio-data pages from their passport
  • their national identity document
  • their residence permit)
Has anyone successfully applied for a family permit on the SS route just submitting a photocopy of the bio-data pages of the EU/UK sponsors passport (whilst obviously submitting the original passport for the non EU spouse)?

Cheers
