Congrats to those who have had progress!

As for me; no progress at all;

Been 7 weeks now, told twice that I would be contacted to tell me progress and reference number. No emails/calls nothing.
going to ring again today and send an email to my MP once 8 weeks have passed.

Well, I knew I shouldn't get my hopes up. The email a few days ago asked me for my phone number, saying my passport was ready to be issued.

This morning I received another email ( a reply to a different inquiry I had sent, I've lost track of how many emails have been sent regarding my application now... )

Basically it said 'I can confirm your application was received on....' ok great thanks for this, I know that already since I delivered by DHL and they informed me when it arrived...

Next, 'the application is showing as 'in examination', which means an examiner will be looking at it over the next few days'

No idea what to think now. Calling them just gets the same reply every time... 'your application status is 'in examination'' 'OK but what does this mean exactly, I received an email saying they were ready to issue my passport' 'well we don't exactly know because its a different office but i'd take that as a good sign....'

Whats the point of sending all OS applications to a central office where they don't have contact with anyone who has actually handled the application? Now I'm not sure if someone has worked on my application, which from the first email sounds like they have and it should be issued, but the second email says they'll be examining it in the next few days?

What a mess...

What exactly did you tell your MP? I'd like to try but honestly I have no idea about politics and things haha... I don't even know who my MP would be? How are they able to help in situations like this? I'd love some more information lol

It seems as if a few in this thread are still waiting for their passport. Apparently, it is taking about twelve weeks at the present time. However, I am not sure that is just for those who are renewing an old, expired blue passport or if it is for all renewals, including first passports for children born overseas.

Have a look online who your local mp is from your home town, I just wrote to him and told him the truth that's I'm stuck over in Colombia waiting for my daughters passport said I can't get an emergency travel document because my daughter wasn't a uk citizen yet. Told him I need to get back home ASAP as a family member was critically ill and I've been waiting over 6 weeks. Someone from his office contacted the passport office as your local MP is part of the government and I received the confirmation the next day. It's well worth a try having someone extra to give them a kick up the arse

We did that about two months ago - our MP and his office have been extremely symapthetic and have apparently applied pressure but we still get nothing, apparently still undergoing security checks in Hong Kong some 7 weeks later.

Talking Re: Delays in first passport for child born overseas

Seems I spoke too soon, passport issued today so should get it early next week. Also a full report has been promised into the delay. Interesting that so many are getting cleared quickly this week, I wonder if there's been some behind the scenes changes to procedure or something? Good luck to all of those still waiting.

Congratulations, that is really great news!

I do hope there's been a change to the procedure, it is clearly needed...
