Hi everyone,
I apologize if this isn’t the appropriate place to ask this question, but I haven’t come up with a clear answer through google searches! I appreciate any input/knowledge anyone may have!
I am a British citizen by descent, born and living in the USA, and have never held a British passport. I am wondering if I’m free to move and settle in the UK (traveling with a US passport), or if I need to first apply for and receive a British passport.

In order to live on a permanent basis in the UK you would need to obtain your British passport to prove your British citizenship.
