Cash Savings route for spousal visa

Does the £62,500 have to be in a cash (on demand) account? Can it be a fixed deposit?

Also, does one have to prove the source of funds?

If your fixed deposit account is cash and allows you to withdraw the funds on demand (ie immediately), with or without a penalty, then it's ok.

You'll need to state the source of funds (eg savings from employment etc)

Ours was fixed deposit for our first visa and we asked the bank to write a letter to confirm that the funds could be withdrawn immediately with penalty. Sometimes 'fixed deposit' would suggest that notice has to be given before withdrawing and we did not want there to be any doubt!

Thanks, michali. Yes, that's exactly what I was worried about.
