BRP expiration date

BRP expiration date
My husband has just received his ILR visa this week. He received his BRP card today and the expiration date is 31.12.2024. I understood the card would be valid for ten years. Should we be flagging this as incorrect?

It’s not immediately obvious why that date has been used. However, now that he has ILR, why not simply naturalise?
