I'm applying for my children's British passports right now. They were all born in the States but I'm British. On the application it asks if they are British nationals. Are they?
Thank you!

If you were born and bred in the UK then, unless there is anything out of the ordinary concerning their births, your children are British by descent (ie. born outside of UK but to a British parent).
(any reason you are asking this question again? You asked it on 1st August)

I know they are British citizens, but I was unclear about what a "British National" is. When I looked it up the definition was a bit confusing. I just thought maybe someone else knew from when they applied for their children's passports and I didn't want to do it wrong. Thank you.

All British citizens are British nationals but not all British nationals are British citizens. This is the same situation in the US. The question, from memory, asks whether the applicant was a British national from birth. The answer for your children is yes.
