Default British Citizenship through Crown Service ?

Hi Learned Friends!
Can anyone assist me with 2 questions around the UK Citizenship by Double Descent (Crown Service Rhodesia)
  1. Please confirm that although Rhodesia declared independence in 1965, the UK only recognised it in 1980 so if I was born in 1970 it was before Independance so my daughter fits into this category (all other requirements having been met : my daughter has a UK born grandfather recruited in the UK to serve in the BSAP from 1959-1982 during which time I was born in Rhodesia in 1970).
  2. Second question, for my daughter under 18 and living in South Africa at the moment to apply for Citizenship on this basis, what form do I use? MN1? if so what do I say on question 1.1 "Indicate the section of the British Nationality Act 1981 under which you would like the application considered. See chapter 2 of the Guide for details:
Any advice welcome

Point 1 - if your daughter has a grandparent born in the UK and holds Commonwealth citizenship (for example South Africa), then she will qualify for an UK Ancestry visa once she is 17 years old. She can use her UK Ancestry visa to come and work in the UK and apply for British Citizenship after 6 years in the UK. It would be better going down this route as she would become a British Citizen otherwise than by descent. Registration by MN1 means that she would become a British Citizen by descent - which means that she cannot automatically pass on her British Citizenship to her children born outside of the UK.

If your daughter is entitled to British citizenship through her grandfather's Crown service then she will already be a British citizen and you need only apply for her British passport. You will need to provide your father's full British birth certificate, your parents' marriage certificate, your full birth certificate, your daughter's full birth certificate and evidence that your grandfather was in Crown service at the time of your birth having been recruited for that service in the UK.
