British citizen having baby in the US
Hi,
I'm a British citizen ( naturalized in 2012) , recently moved to NYC and married a US citizen ( naturalized)
We are planning to have a baby in the US.
My question is will my child have the right to be a UK Citizen by birth
If so, how do I apply for his/ her British passport.
If not, what are my other options?
Any help greatly appreciated
Cheers

Yes, your child would be automatically a British citizen by descent. You would apply for his or her passport here.
As you are a naturalised British citizen I would highly recommend applying for your child's consular birth certificate as if your naturalisation certificate is lost it may prove difficult to prove your child's entitlement to British citizenship in the future. A consular birth certificate can be replaced at any time by making an application to the General Register Office and paying a small fee.

I can back up BinP. I have two daughters who are dual nationals (mot US) and have on two occasions had to get copies of birth certificates. A phone call to General Register Office and a few digits from my Bank card were enough to have a copy of the Birth Certificate sent to us.
