Hello. We entered the UK in December last year with three of us travelling on NZ passports - we carried the UK ones with us. We expected some hassle and experienced a bit of it getting on the plane (qantas really unsure about letting us board one way flight but they did and just said they thought we might get hassle at the border and be made to buy a return flight). We got some minor hassle at border at Heathrow but not much, and it was defo worth it not to shell out the mega bucks that is getting a UK passport while overseas. A few months later we flew to Paris out of Exeter, and they didn't care at all when we re-entered.

It was a bit anxiety-inducing but we had moved sufficient funds into our current account to allow us to buy 3 flights to return at any cost that were totally refundable.
