Austrian nationality eligibility

Austrian nationality eligibility
Not strictly a UK immigration question, but relevant.
Father - born 1928 in Yugoslavia (later Austria), nationality on passport Austrian. Conscripted into Hitler's Youth and fought in WW2. Migrated to Australia 1952.
Married Australian woman (2nd marriage) 1976. This woman had a 5 year old child born 1971 in Australia, father on the birth certificate listed as unknown. Child legally adopted by mother's Austrian husband in 1976. New birth certificate issued for child, naming Austrian man as her father.
Does the adopted child (now 47) have any claim to Austrian nationality/passport? Cheers.

Possibly, as a child. I don't know for certain but I doubt it would be possible now.

I doubt you are entitled to citizenship.
Austria is not an easy country to get citizenship. They also do not allow dual citizenship.

Re: Austrian nationality eligibility
Austria does restrict dual citizenship but it's possible to have both, e.g. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Re: Austrian nationality eligibility
In the case you quoted the child wasn't born to an Austrian father or Austrian mother. Chances imho are nil.
I have a personal interest in Austrian citizenship. My only chance would be to settle in Austria for some years without interruption and to make an application to the president. My ancestry isn't recent enough to go the normal route. As I have passed the 70 treshold I decided to continue to spend summers in Salzburg and winters in Asia but keep my present EU nationality.

You have to be a celebrity or be of academic importance to be granted the right of dual nationality. Austria is investigating Turkish nationals who acquired Austrian nationality but who did not renounce Turkish citizenship. They will/have lost their Austrian passport.
