Default Applying for newborns first UK passport

Good afternoon!

I am a British citizen living in Canada with my Canadian husband. My husband has just been granted a UK spouse visa and we intend to move back to the UK in early June.

I am currently in the process of applying for a UK passport for our newborn son but I’m confused at the document requirements. It is asking for the grandparents birth certificate and marriage certificate (mine and my husbands parents, both maternal and paternal).

My husbands Mother and my Father have both died so we don’t have access to these documents. What are our options?

Could we travel using a Canadian passport for our son then apply for the UK passport once we are there? Will we still have to provide those documents? We didn’t declare our son as a dependent on my husbands application as he wasn’t born yet.

If anyone has anyone insight I would really appreciate it. Thank you!
