Re: Applying for British passport - please help
The longest time is spent getting your family documents so that is a good place to start.
Even though there are costs involved it is the lowest cost work type visa one can get to the uk and bring dependents. There is no age limit either.
There are also some tips on an article blog of 1stcontact why people miss out on ancestry visas.e.g
you can show intent to work ( you dont need a job offer) by creating an account on an online job site and upload cv, apply for some jobs and keep replies on email. Once in the UK part time work or self employment is acceptable also.
also the funds shown to support yourself ( 1600gbp) if not in your account can be via a sponsor in UK who must write a formal letter of sponsorship.
Yes, I agree, it is disappointing that someone with British Ancestry cannot get a passport... but at least you have a fall back position.

Re: Please help confirm... crown service, double descent, born after 1983
I have found two possible probate numbers which may relate to the same person I'm not sure . These are them 1443766 death Newcastle upon Tyne 09 January 2004 and 1171603 death December 2002 Newcastle upon Tyne , both with the same name,Thomas Briton .Does this help?
Can one obtain death certificate information from the probate numbers?

Re: Applying for British passport - please help
BritinParis , many thanks for your reply . Thomas Britton originally married Merle Iris Rippon in South Africa on (solemnised in East London) in 1942 03 07 whilst in Crown Service . This was probably his first marriage and also not made known in the UK . He was born in Hunslet , Leeds County 1919 , lived in Dewsbury and was married a few times in the UK . I think the UK birth register listing is 9 b 829 . I will try and obtain more info regarding Ms Kathleen Rothery . I will get back to you asap .
I will post another request for you to kindly assess with your keen knowledge a route to BC in the next short while .I am trying to get the possible route together.
Thank you once again BritinParis

Re: Please help confirm... crown service, double descent, born after 1983
Re . otherwise by descent . The registration of the fathers British Citizenship otherwise by descent was done in or about 2007. The subject had a British passport , resided in the U.K. and was a pensioner until deceasing. I have made an application to the FOI regarding the registered Citizenship by otherwise than descent and will receive a confirmed reply within 10 days. The subjects father a British Citizen was on official military duty (RAF) recruited in the U.K. and married to the subjects mother (who would have qualified as a CUKC )four years prior to the time of birth in a former British colony (SA).
Please help.

Re: Applying for British passport - please help
Hi BritinParis.
What would the citizen status be of a woman born in 1947 to British Subject parents , in a common wealth country , married to a British citizen in 1965, in a country which was temporarily (33years) no longer a common wealth country ? (South Africa)
Assuming that the marriage desisted at some point , would that citizenship status still remain the same .
