Ancestry visa or citizenship
Hi,
Still searching options to get my partner into the UK. His mum (and grandparents) were both in the UK. Would he be able to apply for UK citizenship based on this? Thanks |

If his mother is British and was born in the UK but he was born in Australia before 1983 then your partner already has Right of Abode in the UK. He will need to apply for a Certificate of Entitlement though which would cost £324 if applied for from Australia. The cheaper option would be simply to register as a British citizen and only pay the £80 ceremony fee.

How would he come over to the UK in the first place? On what visa? How long does it take to apply and get citizenship once in the UK?
