Question Accommodation requirements question

Hi everyone, my wife and I live abroad and are preparing to apply for a settlement visa for her. We are planning to move to the UK together, around two weeks before I start my new job there. I have a question about how to fulfil the accommodation requirements in our situation.

Our plan is to stay with my parents for a couple of weeks upon our arrival, while we arrange for more permanent accommodation in the city where I will work. My parents would happily supply the necessary documents to confirm that they are happy for us to stay there, there is sufficient space, etc.

My concern is that my parents live hundreds of miles away from the city where I will be working. Is it possible that the fact that our accommodation is hundreds of miles away from my place of employment (which will be listed in the financial part of the application) will raise red flags, even if we state that this is a very short term arrangement while we organise something more suitable? If it is necessary we could try to arrange something more permanent before we move, but I would rather not unless we have to.

Thanks for your help.

Are you intending to commute to your job or are you taking a rental yourself in the vicinity of your job?

Thanks for your response Sandiegogirl. I won't commute to my job. Our plan is to arrange a long-term rental near my job once we get to the UK and are staying with my parents. If it takes longer than a couple of weeks, then we will just stay in an AirBnB or similar near my job until we manage it.

i just did this and my visa was approved last week. Just explain it's only for a few weeks while you house hunt in the additional notes section. We provided a letter outlining rooms available etc from my in-laws, council tax bill and 2 utility bills. No housing inspection report or land registry title/mortgage statement.

Hi Katy78, thanks very much for that, it's really helpful. We will do the same thing. Congrats on getting the approval!
