Default 18 years in USA

As the title says, 18 years in The States and I want to get my backside home to Blighty. My question is, as someone who just disappeared off the face of the earth from the UK Govt's perspective, what challenges could I possibly encounter when returning home? All my family are over there so most things won't be an issue. I probably won't be able to go for a few years yet as my daughter starts her 2nd year of college in September and someone has to cough up the cash to pay for it. The only things I'll be bringing back are my motorcycle and my dog (lot's of threads on the dog to read). Daughter has expressed an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the UK so she might be sitting on the plane back home with me.

Thanks in advance.

Ian.

Well you will still have the same National insurance number, if you've lost it you go to the Job centre plus and they will look it up, you go register with the local GP and they look up your NHS number and you find a job, and pass your driving test (or renew your old paper license if you still have it.
Bingo your done.
Oh don't forget to apply for your Daughters British passport if she's eligible.

If not a US citizen, think about the consequences of losing/abandoning green card.

If a US citizen, remember that federal tax filing and bank account reporting requirements still apply.

Daughter might or might not be a British citizen (not enough information to tell) but even if she is one, international fees will be payable for university as she has not lived in the UK for 3 years.
