10-year route as UK spouse

Does the 10-year route only apply to those seeking FLRM? You can't apply for the 10-year route from outside the UK as your initial spouse visa, right? You still need to meet the Minimum Income Requirement?

Thanks

People usually end up on the 10 year route when they cannot adequately fulfill the requirements to renew a visa (spouse, dependent etc), but the ECO deems they qualify to apply for settlement under the 10 year route.
Correct, YOU cannot apply for the 10 year route and Yes, you need to meet the minimum financial requirements to apply for, say, a spouse visa.

Re: 10-year route as UK spouse

A FLRFP visa under 10 years of route is only issued from UK where if the applicant has exceptional and insurmountable obstacles in relocating outside of UK. Conversely, if someone is living abroad and applying it from there then it means he/she hasn't got any exceptional reason, thus have to meet the all standardized primitive requirements.

Just to clarify: One cannot apply for FLR (of any denomination) from outside the UK .... you have to be resident in the UK to do so.

In following scenarios it does plausible from outside of UK:

If you do not meet these requirements you may still be able to apply for a visa or extend your permission to stay if:
  • you have a child in the UK who is a British citizen or has lived in the UK for 7 years and it would be unreasonable for them to leave the UK
  • there would be very significant difficulties for you and your partner if you lived together as a couple outside the UK that could not be overcome
  • it would breach your human rights to stop you coming to the UK or make you leave
