Partner has been offered job and accommodation- but what can I do?
Hi!
My partner (not married) has been offered a job as an English teacher at a great school in Hong Kong along with an 2 bedroom paid apartment. It seems like an amazing opportunity for her but a google search suggests I might not be quite as employable.
I'm an Assistant Producer in documentaries and Factual Television in the UK. I've worked mainly on primetime documentaries, entertainment formats and round the world science programming. I've also got experience as a camera operator and photographer in corporate events.
I don't speak Chinese or any other language for that matter, and I scored 70 on the quality migrant assessment (I have 5 years graduate experience in my industry).
Does anyone know what the job market looks like for TV/ Media/ Events in HK? Could I work as a freelancer like I do in the UK?
I'd be grateful for any information I can get- Internet searches don't get you very far in this business.

I'm in a very similar situation to you, where my partner has got a job in HK but it would be difficult for me to find employment as a TV producer/ video journalist.
I can only speak Mandarin at a basic level..
Would love to hear more about the media industry in HK.

Bit difficult - would you consider doing a TEFL course so that you can teach local children English?
