UK getting a Mexican Temporary Residency Visa

Hey guys,

Back in January of this year I applied for a Temporary Resident Visa here in Jalisco, Mexico.

I handed in all my documents and had an interview to answer questions about why I was here (married a Mexican). All went through fine and they told me to wait for an email with a link to my application status. I applied on 11th January and the latest progress was 2 days later on the 13th January that states "A payment has been taken", which was the cost of the application not the visa itself yet.

So my question is how long should I expect to wait? The latest progress update was on the 13th January and now it's been over 2 months. Will I be wasting a trip if I went back there and ask in person? I've tried calling and they told me to wait, but they couldn't give me a rough date. So I know it's a waiting game but as time goes on and I need to get back to the UK, I'm wondering how long the wait is going to be?

Many thanks.

Don't know if you're still here, but this is the land of mañana. I had my purse stolen on a Saturday last week, the police got it back but then they confiscated it saying it was for 'evidence' or whatever, said it would be kept until Monday - 2 days - then on Tuesday when I got someone to take me back out to the police station they changed their minds and said it had been transferred to a different station (closer to the scene of the crime) and would now be another WEEK. So, you see, this is the f***ing land of mañana. I don't know what to tell you.

My application for Mexican citizenship took almost a year to process - had to take an exam in another city.

If you go back to UK without finishing the application you will have to re-do the application all over again. It shouldnt be a problem since you are married to a mexican just get the tourist visa when you enter Mexico as usual then apply for your Temporary Resident Visa again.
