Default Santiago de Chile

Anyone living in Santiago de Chile? Or know it well enough to comment?

I'm considering applying for a job there and wondered what it's like to live in.

I've been told it's european in style. I have lived several years in Spain and speak Spanish.

Many thanks for any information.

I've been living in Santiago since 1998 and haveknown the country since 1981, so hopefully I can be of help to you. Chile continues to boom, and has in no way been affected by the rest of the world's problems. There is a shortage of skilled people, particularly at higher level positions where English is a must. It's very European in many ways, and although Santiago does have its smog problems in winter, it also has what to me, at least is a wonderful climate, great wine at ridiculously low prices, meatetc very much cheaper than Europe etc. Just fire away with your questions

Old thread I know but I've been thinking about Chile as a place to live for a while.

In the "better" neighbourhoods of Santiago do many people play loud music like here in Colombia? I'm someone who likes peace and quiet but it's hard to find here.

About the only time you are likely to hear loud music is if someone is having a party, but in general you dont hear music. If it does happen, you can call the cops as there are laws that control such things. Like anywhere, if you live on an apartment block, then you need to be choosy , ss if you choose one where young peope live, you are probably going to suffer every weekend, but in houses no.
