I had a friend staying here last week, and he went on holiday to Cuba a few years ago. He said that there was so much poverty there it was untrue, it seems like the wealthy are very wealthy and the poor are given just enough to survive.

Yes, the poverty is pathetic, but I don't believe anybody there is wealthy, I saw absolute no evidence of that, mind you, I was there over 10 years ago, but doubt little has changed other than the addition of luxury hotels which did not exist when I was there last.

Nice place for a quiet holiday, but to live?. It would never enter my mind.

I'm guessing that the wealthy are those close to or associated with Castro and probably live somewhere a distance away from the poor
