Default UK family of three planing a move !!

Hi All

I am after some advice. We have decided the Caymen Islands is the place for our young family to relocate. We are at the very early stages in our search and would love some help with the following :

My husband works for Bank of America as a Senior Business Analyst in the UK, can anyone advise the best route to go down for job search, are recruitment agencies used a great deal in Caymen as in the UK ?

Secondly the main reason for our move is to live a healthier lifestyle more vitamin D and hopefully less stress as unfortunately 18 months ago at 28 years of age, I went through a cancer diagnosis, chemo and radiotherapy. I am almost two years in remission and everything is looking very positive. My worry/ question is will health insurance just be way to much and do most companies pay health insurance or a percentage of ?

Any help with the following questions would be massively appreciated

Thanks
Kate

Well, the first thing to do, Katy, is check out all the earlier threads on this subject, and any blogs you can find, and the online magazine "Cayman Resident". Then come back to us.

My employee pays my Health Insurance and has a decent package, I pay 10% of my medical and 20% of my dental care upto a maximum of $1600 a year for any treatment, they did not take into account existing conditions however mine are not life threatening. My wife's job (when she managed to find one here) pays 50% of her health cover & the remainder is deducted from her wages, but is so basic it doesn't even cover contraception ($80 every 3 months) and she pays the normal 20% for any bills. So it does seem to depend on the employer, it's something you would seriously have to consider if you receive a job offers before you come as living here really does make you appreciate the NHS.

Umm, I am willing to admit ignorance on the topic, TandD, but I have never in my life heard of an insurance policy that covers contraception! Are you sure? With a decent policy, can one really claim for Johnnies at Foster's supermarkets?

In the US some insurance covers oral contraception for women, and there have been cases that went all the way to the Supreme Court, in the context of challenges to the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act, and whether an employer could be forced to provide coverage for a product that they had a religious objection to. .... And of course oral contraceptives are provided by the NHS in the UK.

Well, I'll be damned, Pulaski! I didn't believe you, until I Googled the subject and discovered you're absolutely right. Dear me: where were the insurers when I was young and in need of this kind of cover (no pun intended)? Live and learn, eh?

In england the level of ‘cover’ is off the charts. Now gay men are freely prescribed some drug that can stop you getting aids, cause they dint want to use condoms... What a great use of 10 million pounds of sparse health funds.
