Police record
I am about to move to Cayman with my husband. Unfortunately, my husband has a criminal record. A felony, which was over 10 years ago and a more recent misdemeanour assault charge. Does anyone know if it will be possible to submit a police record check together with an affidavit of reformed character? He will be my dependent as I will be supporting both him and our daughter.

Ali. I really don't know. But if your local Police authority will give him a "clean" Police record, I think you'd be OK at this end. If not, not. Either you have a top job lined up here, to be allowed to have two dependents, or you're working for government where the dependents-rule doesn't apply. Maybe your employer can give some idea of how likely it is that he would be allowed to live here - as opposed to visiting from time to time.

Thanks for the reply. My salary will provide for a monthly income of around $5kCI which I am told will be adequate to cover two dependents. I've also been told that if the record is not "clean", an affidavit of reformed character can suffice.

You should go and see if 5k would adequately cover your family with the kind of living standard you are accustomed to. It might be, okay if you don't mind being frugal.
