Enactment of Standards in Public Life legislation

The Premier Alden McLaughlin has said that this much talked about law is about to be enacted at last. Very interesting to see exactly what will come of it and who runs for cover.

Here theres a non police body that is supposed to investigate corruption in government. They were doing exactly that recently, and having found a possible issue ‘at the top’ were told to cease their investigation... As you said, it will be interesting.

The politicians have been putting this law off for years, and they and their cronies have no intention of enforcing it. No intention at all. I was on the Human Rights Committee here for a couple of years (15 or so years ago now) and got nowhere with it. Every attempt to enforce genuine human rights was simply ignored in favour of grandstanding by lawyers. So I have no hopes at all that our standards in public life will be raised. The British FCO knows this, and is going through its own fake virtual-signalling.
