Cayman Islands moving 2017

Hi,
I am very close to receiving a job offer in the Cayman Islands this month May 2017.
The recruiter and potential employer are telling me that they all accountants are usually taken on as audit seniors only, even with FS experience. I have FS experience of nearly 2 years so if im moving to Cayman then I will be an audit senior for 6 years.
Can anyone let me if this is correct?

My husband is also a geologist, can anyone let me know of the situation with science jobs over there as well?

Well, I'm long retired, and now only do some part-time consultancy; but I can tell you that you've been misinformed by whoever told you that only auditors are being hired. Better check out a few of the other recruiting firms. as listed in the New Resident magazine. I hope that you've perused that magazine already.

I doubt if there'd be much in the geology line, but the recruiting firms would know.

The caribbean needs the occasional geologist :-). We had a group of them visiting / studying Gda last year, they gave a talk on the geological make up / history of the island, very interesting. Identifying all the ancient volcanos and how they grew the island and how plate theory informs how the island grew.
