Work in St Lucia

Hi All,

My husband and I are having a villa built in St Lucia at the moment with the intention of renting it out for the next 3-4 years then emigrating out there.

We are both mid 30s at the moment and will need to work when we get there. My husband is a design engineer for Aston Martin so I think will struggle to find any relevant work there, but we are hoping to maybe buy a small B&B for him to run. I am a Business Manager in the Motor Industry so again, not much work around in that field, although I have extensive experience in Customer Services (and call centre management although I don't suppose there are many call centres there!)

I am looking at taking a qualification in hotel or hospitality management as I think working in a hotel will probably be the best thing, but want to know what qualifications they would recognise? I have found a distance learning college in America called the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute who offer a Hospitality Operations Certificate and a Hotel Management Diploma but want to check if worth taking.

Any ideas will be welcome. We are forward planning a fair bit as can't move out until at least March 2012, but I figure that just gives us time to gain some suitable qualifications.

Thanks,

You seem to be on the right path, why not try contacting the Minister for tourism, his department should be able to help you on what qualifications are recognised. Good luck.
