Re the insurance, it really does pay to shop around. A friend has just moved up from Yarmouth to Halifax and her premium has sot up by $1,000!!!
We have found that with the 18 year old on the policy it's actually cheaper over here than it was in the UK!!

Following on from Heading West yes contact Eisenhauers for help with quotes Rob Peters really does know his stuff!
If you are planning on buying a house so you don't get locked into renting for too long then please study the process really carefully and get yourselves a buyers representative, don't run out and call the number on the Sellers board that person is NOT working for you... I can highly recommend Sharon and Ken as converts to Nova Scotian lifestyle ,they have done an amazing job of moving their lives forward, networking and buying a home and helping others in their efforts to settle here..Sharon thanks again for the Coffee!

Welcome to NS!
Be sure to keep photocopies of your uk licenses as they prove how much driving experience you have, copies of both card and paper! We have used them time and again!
When buying a car have you vehicle checked over by a mechanic first. We bought an older SUV which has cost us a lot of money to fix and put right.
Halifax Chrysler (at Bayers Lake) looked after us (ask for Craig Caruthers and mention Ken & Sharon) We had our newer vehicle from him which has been great, they bent over backwards to make sure everything was right for us.
For insurance check out Eisenhauer Insurance on Lacewood Drive, Rob Peters knows how to insure new arrivals (mention Ken & Sharon). Our initial quote from another company was $2500, Rob sorted us out for $950 ! We have both cars insured with him now for $2300 (I have only a short driving history so its more for me ;-) )
message me if you want further help ;-)

Thanks Sharon, wish I had thought to take copies of the licence as have copies of everything else, it seems.....but although we changed my husband's over yesterday they run out of time to do my eye test so going back today - will copy that on the way. Thank you for the heads up re Eisenhauer, will check that out with Rob, but had heard that only Johnson's recognise NCD. So much to do and clarify............so far feel that every day is full of appoinments and things to do - and I wake up with a whole new list swilling around! Looking forward to the time when most tasks have been completed...........Thanjs again.

We have been here 6 months now and we are still learning the Nova Scotian way of things, the different ways of doing things and the different termiology for everything too!
It been a constant learning curve! but we do love it here so much and we wouldn't go back willingly now

Thank you so much! That would be great - but we may come loaded with questions.......:regular_smile. Perhaps we can private message you for potential options?
