The lost 8 years

Re: The lost 8 years
What a lovely post...most enjoyable and joyful...and I know from experience that moving isn’t always a fun experience.
I too can add a Plus 1 for all of your pros and cons - every year I have ‘enough’ of the bloody winter, and then the magical little hummingbirds come back and make it all worthwhile!
Continue to find the positives

I call our hummers the ‘phantom raspberry blowers’……that sketch always comes to mind when they sneak up behind you, making their little noise, and then they’re gone again before you catch a glimpse… ’

What a fabulous post Fer Canard ! You are one bravy person!! You boldly went where you had never thought of going before - without any preconceived notions or even information - and made a success of it! You are one hell of a person - a pioneer in your own right........ well done you! I do hope you keep posting here.... you are SO welcome

The poster picture also made me laugh...our house actually looks a LOT like that, only uglier and without the useful features like the second floor, the veranda, and the barn. Oh I wish....

I appreciate that, Siouxie......made me laugh. Not sure that I identify with the 'success' bit, as that still feels some ways off to me.

Congrats on your Canniversary, and I really agree with everyone who said what a lovely post that was to read. All I can see from my window when lying in bed is trees, so I also love the fireflies, and not all the yellow dust.

My experience living in this house has certainly prompted a rather lengthy list of things to aspire to and things to avoid in our next Canadian home……..living downwind of a dirt road and a border of massive pine trees is quite high on the ‘avoid’ side.
