Just over 3 years in Alberta
Hi all,
Been a while since I last posted on here.
We have had non-stop work which has been fantastic, but sometimes wish we didn't have to spend quite so much time in the office......
Also, we have just bought our first house here! It's a couple of blocks away from our rental, but it means we are committed to life here
I will be applying for citizenship shortly as have clocked up the minimum 1095 days required presence in Canada.
What has been difficult is dealing with M-I-L's crappy attitude towards us being here. We were given hell for months after we visited her last Christmas. One horrible email after another - hey ho.
Life here has been gradually coming together and we have had it easier than a lot of people.

Thanks MJ!
We are still lacking a social circle, but can expect that'll take many more years to happen.....
I do think we have had a relatively easy time compared to a lot of people if the most we have to complain about are the long working hours.

It doesn't mean that people are productive though when made to work those hours.

Congratulations on the three year milestone. I am looking forward to that sort of timespan, as I think I too will feel quite settled by then. I know from another thread that you are thinking of changing your job, how are you going on that front?
Well done on your new home! Ignore your MIL...you will never win whatever you do, my MIL was one of the main reasons I didn't want to live in Canada, being on the same continent is a trial..I only thank heaven that Canada is 'quite' large! Very best of luck for the next bit!
