I guess its been about 17 years.
I can't say I have found success in Canada, but it is what it is, and in 9 years time, I will hit the point where I have lived in Canada longer than I did in my home country.
I can't remember the exact date I arrived, but it was sometime over labor day weekend 2004, so it was around this time of the month, although I didn't become PR until Nov 1, 2006 that date is easy to keep track off since its on my PR card.
I don't hate Canada as a country, I just never found my place here, and such still feels like I live in a foreign country just visiting in many ways, I guess you could say its been 17 years of being homesick.

Don't hate NZ at all. Don't feel a part of it either. It remains a country not mine.

I am actually glad I don't live in the UK even though photographs of country pubs and river scenes make me want to sigh.
Proximity to Europe is what I miss.

My delay didn't result in any extra fees and I guess even though it took longer at the time than most in the immigration group doing the same at the time, its not as bad as what they did to you.
Thanks to Harper, I did get a refund of part of the landing fee that he reduced that was nice.
