Default I guess its been about 17 years.

I can't say I have found success in Canada, but it is what it is, and in 9 years time, I will hit the point where I have lived in Canada longer than I did in my home country.

I can't remember the exact date I arrived, but it was sometime over labor day weekend 2004, so it was around this time of the month, although I didn't become PR until Nov 1, 2006 that date is easy to keep track off since its on my PR card.

I don't hate Canada as a country, I just never found my place here, and such still feels like I live in a foreign country just visiting in many ways, I guess you could say its been 17 years of being homesick.

I think we had similiar time lines although your PR took longer if I recall?

Not that mine was fast took a year and a half almost from mailing it off to getting PR, I could be wrong and it wasn't you.

Let's be the group of 2004. That's when we plonked down in NZ.

Don't hate NZ at all. Don't feel a part of it either. It remains a country not mine.

In some way's I think maybe I would have done better at adapting if I was not in North America still but eh who knows, but Canada has never felt like home, hindsight, when the first marriage ended, I should have packed up, and went home when I was still young enough to start over.

It would have been about 7 months had CIC done what they told me they should have, in their apology but not making things right letter, but was nearly three years and doubled fees.

Canada enabled me to retire at 47 and that's good enough for me.
I am actually glad I don't live in the UK even though photographs of country pubs and river scenes make me want to sigh.

Proximity to Europe is what I miss.

Ah that sucks especially with the money part with doubled fees that is even worse than just taking their sweet time.

My delay didn't result in any extra fees and I guess even though it took longer at the time than most in the immigration group doing the same at the time, its not as bad as what they did to you.

Thanks to Harper, I did get a refund of part of the landing fee that he reduced that was nice.
