Citizenship!

here in Calgary last Monday along with 125 others from 35 different countries. Thought I should share ....

We did the test in the morning, and the ceremony in the afternoon! How's that for catching up after 18 months wait?!

Had a wonderful party with a wonderful group of new friends (Canadian and not ... Scots mostly!:p) and just thoroughly enjoyed the whole day.

Now I think we all feel a little anti-climactic ... just aboot to settle in for the winter I guess :)

It seems to draw a line under the whole emigrating process ... feeling a bit flat right now. Odd.

It does draw a line, but there's no need to feel flat, you'll get a nice Canadian passport, be able to vote, hell, you could even put on a Canadian accent and completely blend in if you wanted  you're a citizen!

Thanks guys.

It did tickle me this week when somebody told me I "sound much more Canadian" than one of my ex-Brit colleagues who's been here since the sixties and sounds to me more "British" than the Queen!

I feel better today ... think I was a bit tired :)

Missed this somehow - congrats to all of you. Any excuse for a party, that's what I say ;)

Wow, congrats on becoming a Canadian citizen! The wait for the application to be processed takes as long is it does for PR, no surprise there then.

I'm still proudly wearing my Maple Leaf badge!

My Secret Santa at work has been leaving me "British" gifts all week which is funny:
Mushy peas, Jaffa Cakes, Strongbow Cider and some nail-clippers emblazoned with the Union Flag!

The test? No. Not if you have no trouble reading English.

I think some of the ESL people struggled.... but I don't think anybody failed the test the day we took it...
