This time six years ago I was just arriving permanently in Canada. I'm still in Fredericton, I still Hate the climate, but I still think that ultimately it was a good decision to move here. Our son is going into 12th Grade in September. He is happy, self assured and popular and getting good grades - he has flourished here, and made it all worthwhile.

There have been good things and a few bad, but I think that's true everywhere. I am finally finding my feet and feel more settled, I'll never fit in, but that's fine. Emigrating is a great big process. I've lived in a lot of countries, but had never taken the step of emigrating, becoming a citizen etc., before Canada, and it is a defining thing and I think mental ups and downs are probably par for the course. I'm now starting to feel more like the positive woman who set off for here six years ago thank heaven.

Thank you to so very many of you on here who have been supportive and kind over the years, and have given me a bloody good laugh on occasion to you all!

So glad to know that you are feeling more settled now and that life is better - it may have been a bumpy road but there's been high's as well as low's... and you are stronger for them all.
