We left the UK on May 15th 1966 and have been here as residents/citizens of Canada for 55 years now. Both retired now we have a very good life and can’t imagine living anywhere else. We both, despite limited education, had good well paid jobs meaning now we have sufficient funds from our pensions to live the life we want and enjoy. Good Luck and Best Wishes to ALL

Congratulations!
We arrived in Canada 53 years ago in August, and like you are happy we made the move and the decision to stay. Plus, like you, we have the pension funds to enjoy life without worrying about money .......... so long as we don't go mad and start buying a $2 million cottage on a lake
.
I'm not sure what our pension status would have been like in the UK

Another year has been added since the beginning of this thread. The only major events in the year were the deaths of two of my good Canadian friends. Sad tto see them go but as one gets into late 70s it’s what happens, so get ready for it everyone. I turn, Deo Volente, 80 in November coming, so quite likely my last Canniversary update. Carry on trucking people.

Well another year has passed and I’m still kicking. Apart from mobility issues I feel reasonably healthy and have no plans to give up the ghost yet. I’ve watched a number of friends/relatives drop by the wayside and I miss them, but getting used to it. I attribute my outliving them to never, no never having smoked or consumed alcohol in any form, whereas they were all heavy consumers of both products. We’ll see what another year will bring. If you don’t hear from me around this time next year, you can safely assume I’ve popped my clogs or no longer able to put two words together.

My about to be 85 mother in law has the occasional beer with me. While she smokes it's really only about two a day but she used to smoke a lot more and she used to be a secret drinker.
Are you interested in a date?
