hey!

you're only a few years younger than me, though you beat us to living in Canada by 6 years. We arrived on August 22 1968, but also had been to Expo in Montreal the previous year from August 22-26

Very well done. I think you must have been a great deal more adventurous than I was at that age. Only a few years older than me but at 19 I still didn't know which way up the world was.

Re: 55 years ago

At age 19, having been in the RAF since age 15, I'd served in Penang repairing aircraft that bombed the Communists in the Malayan jungle. Dropped bombs on Egyptian airfields during the Suez Crisis and got bombed many times in pubs down the 'GUT' in Malta.....
but couldn't spell Saskatchewan or Quebec.... never mind know where they were.

During Expo, flying between Hong Kong and Vancouver bringing many tourist passengers and enjoying long layovers, I decided to immigrate there when retired in 1990...been there ever since.

At 19, I had just graduated from high school, went to Frinton-on-Sea to work in a hotel for the summer, and then started university in Liverpool in the October
