5 months today!

http://www.smileyhut.com/excited/bounce.gif

Still can't believe we're here and it's only 4 months since landing!:blink::eek:

Wouldn't change the experience for the world and it's been great finding this forum  been nosying around it since we first thought about coming here and found so much good advice on here thought it was time to sign up!

Hubby and I moved here from Derbyshire and it sure has been a rollercoaster! So pleased we made all the right efforts to get our animals here too as we wouldn't be without them.. dog and cat came with us and despite the 9 hour drive to get them home from the airport across 2 provinces (when totally new to the driving experience here!) it was worth it! http://www.smileyshut.com/smileys/new/16_1_23[1].gifhttp://www.smileyshut.com/smileys/ne...mini-dog-6.gif
We came right at the start of true frozen prairie winter and it's been pretty tough getting used to what the weather can throw at us both physically and psychologically http://www.smileyshut.com/smileys/new/freddo1.gif but we're sticking with it http://www.smileyshut.com/smileys/new/lingua3.gif and laughing more than crying! Waiting for our first true snow storm which we have been assured is likely to come soon!

Been advised to get out there even if the weather is cold http://www.smileyshut.com/smileys/new/natale3.gif so we went to the Western Finals of the Grey Cup and have been walking out onto frozen lakes and planning on getting snow shoes too! Still too scared to try out ice fishing .... guess that is what comes of living all our lives back in the UK prior to this and not ever knowing how truely frozen lakes can be here! http://www.smileyshut.com/smileys/new/natale2.gif

Got my first set of vacation leave coming up so we're planning on taking a road trip over through Alberta and BC to take in more of this new country we're calling home and also filling out all the forms for PR to try to get it in as soon as April 1st comes round (which will be 6 months for us here!)

Well just wanted to write a quick hello! Should get back to celebrating being here!

gingnut .. the gopher team in green of course! ....akways amuses me to think that South Africans here in SK have a different translation of 'rough riders' ... it's not a football team to them but nickname for condoms:rofl:

CONGRATULATIONS ON MAKING THE BIG MOVE TO CANADA. A lot of folks on here, self included find it very useful to read the timelines of those lucky enough to have made it, so would you mind sharing a few bits of info, how did you apply, how long did it take, where did you send your app. Gives us wannabe's renewed hope:)

Good Luck with your new life, sounds the best!.

Hi,
Congrats .... by the way, where in Derbyshire did you move from? We used to live near Buxton, and are now in Bucks, thinking of moving to Calgary.

Moving from Worcestershire to Toronto. Took 3 years almost to the day to get accepted. We used Four Corners as emigration company but they went bust and we lost all our money but managed to hang on to our application so has all been ok. Need to sell house in Uk then make the big move eek!!

Hi, congrats on your move we have been here 5 months on the 15th. Hubby came first and he is now in his 7th month. God it has gone so quick, the kids have settled down little ones better than the big ones - money is tight as I dont have a job yet that will come soon (please god!!) . Weather in Newfoundland has not been so bad - I have a new respect for the black Ice as I slipped down the out side stairs last week and am now sporting a black eye and various bruises and bumps!!. But all in all yes it good - Need to get PR application in as well that is the next hurdle!!
Yes also brought the dog over with us and would not be without her. Glad to hear that you are settling well.
Here's to the next six months

Hi, glad to hear all is working out for you. We are looking for some advice, we are just about to initially apply to emigrate to Canada and are just wondering what the first steps are and if you would recommend anything to help us get the first steps right. We are looking at Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, any tips would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Re: 5 months today!

Dont pay an agency to do it for you just use CIC. We used an agency and they closed and rebranded themselvesand we lost a lot of money and almost our application after it was shipped to New Zealand and they refused to return the papers unless we paid!!

Main thing is not to worry anything can be sorted oih yeah and it takes a very long time - 3 years and still waiting to move!
