4 Years....
So, today we hit our 4 year Canniversary. We have been PR's for one month and one day now.. so still waiting for the actual cards to confirm it!
These 4 years have been filled with a lot of highs and plenty of lows. Living here has been in some ways fantastic for us and in others, very, very draining. Looking back, we were very green about everything Canada had to offer us - even though we did a lot of research. Life here is very different to the UK and it can take some getting used to. We are lucky that we live in a great community now and have met some really great friends here who have helped us through some really hard times. When I hit my lowest point last year, I really appreciated all the people who held their hands out to help me stand up and walk tall again. We are now settled into everyday life in NS - OH is training towards a new career, I have a great job and will be starting to study again in September, daughter 1 is about to finish Grade 2 and daughter 2 is about to start BIG SCHOOL in September. In comparison to our lives in the UK, life here in NS is great for us. My OH is so much more relaxed, the kids have much more freedom and life in general is very relaxed and easy going. This, however, does not stop us wondering what else is out there in Canada. I think we are just people who like to move around, so I am not closed to the idea of one day upping sticks again! So any suggestions on great places to relocate...pm me..lol This is also not to say that the relaxedness does not get on my nerves sometimes. I don't think I will ever get used to the speed things progress here or how difficult it is to find information out or get help when things go wrong - we need a Citizens Advice Bureau here! I think, looking back, if I knew all the nightmares we would have to deal with in these first 4 years, we would probably still be living in England! One good thing to come out of all the nightmares is that I can actually argue face to face with people now without crying my eyes out - so always a sunny side hey! There has been nothing static about our lives in the last four years. We finally feel like we are moving forwards rather than backwards or just treading water. So, here is to the next 4, 8, 12 years! |

Re: 4 Years....
Congrats from another 4 year veteran, in fact as it turned out we both landed same day and even lived a few kilometers apart at first but never actually met.
Perhaps that's a good thing as i don't want your luck rubbing off on me. Only kidding. Maybe your future career will be to open the first citizens advice bureau in NS |

Re: 4 Years....
Happy Canniversary Mrs! I am so pleased that you live nearby although I would of course support any move you may want to do...
You have been so helpful to us in our move here! I agree with the comment on how hard it can be to find information here. :frown: but the beaches almost make up for it! :D Many happy more years to you and yours!:thumbsup::thumbsup: |
