3 Months

Saturday was our 3 month anniversary.

Not sure how I feel about it all, last week I spent a lot of the time missing "home" I miss the house I had in Maidstone, I just missed all the things that was once so familiar.

I feel guilty for feeling like this, I dont have to work here, I have a big pool in the garden, live in a beautiful area. So you tell me why, because I dont know.

Not much of a 3 month report really!!

I have read on here that 5-6 months in is not a good time, which make me a little worried or perhaps I am getting my blues a little bit early.

Sorry to hear your feeling a bit blue - you say you don't have to work - is that what your missing? I know I felt really lost for the 1st six months when I couldn't work, although I knew I didn't want to go home I knew I was missing something, I only work part time and sometimes I grumble about it - don't we all:unsure: but it may help you settle if you find a little job???

I have thought about a job, I do look from time to time to see what there is. I do miss all my friends from work, luckly they keep in touch and give me all the gossip. I was a manager and they still email me for advice, which is nice.

My daughter & grandson visited for 2 week and I have felt down ever since they went home.

Theres your answer Miss C.

It may sound Harsh, but I'm firmly of the opinion the more contact you have with the UK (in the first 12 months) and the sooner you have visitors from 'over there' the longer it takes (or the less likely it is) before you settle.

Do you really think so?

They arrived when we had been here 2 months. Oh well perhaps my trip home in October is not such a good idea then. Too late now though, I have paid for it.

Just need to pull my self together and get on with it. - Count my blessings

I can understand how you must feel. It suspect it's the age at which you chose to make this move.

Most of us make that big move at a young age, like myself, we were 33 and 30 and our children were 6 and 3.

I'm sure I would feel the same if I were to move back to the UK.

I wish you luck.

Chin up honey....it's early days yet. I had the blues around 3 months too. It'll pass - you always feel a bit like that when rellies from the UK go back after a visit too (even when they're a pain in the arse while they're here like my mum was!)
Any local clubs or stuff you could get involved in? I've just begun to think about joining a club to get out and meet people a bit more. I've made quite a few friends but most of them are Brits, so I'm quite keen to meet more Canadians and make new buddies with them. I'm going to try curling I think - I've heard it's a bit of a laugh and I fully expect to spend most of my time on my bum or flat on my face, but I'll give it a go.

So it's not just me then! We've been here nearly 5 months and I absolutley love the place, the people and the lifestyle . . . . .. . so why do I feel so damn grumpy!!!!! My mum and dad came to visit for 5 weeks after we'd been here 3 months - we had a fantastic time - but I'm left feeling very lost!

Thats exactly how I feel - lost.

I went to the pictures with a friend last night and she bought a lady with her that I hadnt met before, so that was nice. They asked me what I was doing the rest os the week and when I thought about it, I am doing nothing!!.

I am going to join a gym and get out and about more.
