2 years in Northern BC...and staying.
We recently crossed this threshold.
I have the following comments:
1) Life is more simple in Canada compared to The UK.
2) The cost of living, when factoring in higher wages in Canada, is not higher than The UK.
3) The government is more generous in Canada and does not 'claw back' tax credits like The UK.
4) Social mobility is a reality in Canada. In financial terms, we have accomplished in 2 years here what it took some 14 years in The UK to accomplish.
5) The weather is better in Canada.
6) Cheese is, no question, cheaper in The UK.

Ahahaha YES to point number 6!
Congrats on reaching 2 years. Having driven through the mountains recently I can certainly say that BC is lovely and much, much prettier than Ontario!!

I watch "Question Time" on my laptop each week (the UK politico debate programme) and every week it re-enforces how happy I am to no longer live in the UK. The attitude of the panelists - and the audience - is so critical and negative. Mind you, the ambivalence of Canadians here on Vancouver Island can be equally frustrating in its way. I'd rather have an ulcer brought on by frustration than by stress!
