10 years in Calgary

I dreamt of living close to the Rockies since vacationing as a child :)

There are things I miss about the UK, but its not the place I remember years ago...

I am glad and happy to call Canada home :) Life is what you make of it.

HaHa

I miss sausage and batter.... !!

Winters are cold, summers are hot.... bigger houses.... Calgary has more millionaires than any other city in Canada!

After 10 years it feels like home, so its difficult remembering how UK living was!!

Im established here, my kids were born here, they have the cutest accents, Im not Mummy... Im Mommy :)

I miss my Dad but he visits twice a year...

Oh and the Rockies are beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds brilliant, thanks for the extra details.

Our visit to Calgary 15 years ago is what first made us think about moving.

We were not in a position to make the move at that point, but we didn't know that then, and were very upset when we realised we just weren't viable :(

But things have changed now. We are ready and raring to go

Love it here.... summers are hot, winters bloody freezing.... but wouldnt go back... my kids were born here, I wouldnt want my kids raised in the UK.

Mountains are an hour away, plenty of jobs in all areas.

When you emigrate, plan well, bring enough money, realize that you will miss your family and friends, but understand there was a reason you emigrated, too often expats look through rose coloured glasses at the uk, everytime i visit, its great for the first hour lol

Since living here i have missed my brothers wedding and my nans funeral.... i cant get home for everything,, but your family should be understanding of this.. with skype and social media it sure is a small world now :)

Congratulations on your first decade, and your straight talking analysis. Been here just 18 months, but no plans to return to the uk, like you we love it here.
