Default Your Qualificatiions - Equivalency in Canada

Hi All,

Have you used the British Columbia or Alberta 'Qualifications Equivalency' system? Where you pay dosh, and they show 'the Canadian level you've obtained'

Have employers accepted it? In light of the stuff on 'foreign credentials not recognised' etc.

I know someone on here recently was happy to get the conversion done, but heard nothing about what it means in the real workplace.

Please share your experiences, which organisation did you use?

All The Best.

Didn't bother - for the one interview I've had here to gain a 2yr contract job I just submitted a copy of my resume (see the Wikki article on how to put together a Canadianised version of your job history), which detailed all my UK qualifications and work experience.

I think that the thing that really helped was having a Canadian reference included that confirmed my good standing, abilities etc etc.

Yes - we used Eqas in Alberta (or is it Equas?) summat like that anyway. Yes it was accepted, and made life much easier.

There's at least one thread in the old 'filing cabinet' on this subject - try a search, too

I had to have my nursing qualifications assessed by IQAS before I could become eligable to register.

My guess is it would depend on your qualifications, but I don't think it would do you any harm. Mine came back in less than 8 weeks
