You know you're becoming canadian when you...

Realize that your indicator lights are some extra that comes with the car and aren't a necessity.

you fill up at the gas station, complain about the price of gas, and can actually afford to fill up your tank up more than once a year.

another good reason for this thread - as a canadian going home after 20+ years in the uk, it's reminding me of a language I'd forgotten about ie gas for petrol etc.
many thanks, now I just need to get my accent back

You might have a challenge dropping the vocabulary like butty, knickers, brilliant, anorak, rubbish etc.

what do you find yourself doing or saying?
Saying "Hood" not bonnet, or just saying "Hi Guys" rather than good morning

I'm also realising that I've never stopped some, like mail or 'hi guys' but.....it took me 15 years to remember drawing pins are thumb tacks, now I've got to remember back again

Mornin' all

Oh my god! Reading through this thread, I just realised how 'Canadian' I've become! Good fun, though - keep 'em coming!

Just the other day, my daughter said I should try to revert to, and keep some of my 'englishness' (sp) and say 'garage' instead of 'guraarge' (I guess you'll know what I'm trying to say, there......HA! there's another one - "I guess").....lol

One thing which I don't really like very much but find myself saying a lot, is "Can I get....." instead of "Can I have...."

Some things you just have to change, though - unless you're happy to continue getting blank looks, and explain something every time you use 'english' Darwins theory of evolution, really - we evolve to adapt to our surroundings - so true!

Joke - Long ago three guys sitting round having a beer, trying to choose the name for our great country of Canada:

First one says, "I know, we'll have a 'C', eh?" Second one says, ok, and we'll have a 'N', eh?", third one says, "Great, and let's have a 'D', eh?"

It was in the kids I noticed the change first, my youngest lad talking about the amount of 'candy' he had eaten at school instead of sweets or ket.

Yep, especially when one of the main arteries in the NW in Calgary is Shaganappi trail!

I believe Nappi is a Native American Indian God.

Cupcakes instead of bun.
