Yes more newbies
Yeh, yet more people wanting info and advice. In the very early stages and looking to move to the Calgary area but don't know where, want somewhere with a community, good schools and within easy traveling distance of Calgary. Hopefully want a house with an older feel and some character rather than a new estate. Any advice and help would be great.

I love Dunoon, came from Clydebank, now live in Chilliwack, just an hour outside Vancouver, BC. Sorry we cannot help you, we have never moved since we got here 16 years ago. Rural, yet everything we ever needed. If you ever want to move to BC give us a call. |

Maybe try Cochrane, not quite in Calgary but 15 mins outside the edge of Calgary, good commute into the City and lots to do out there, not a huge population, nice little place! You'll get some older houses out there too - well bearing in mind youre not going to find a 50 year old house out here.... Are you applying under skilled worker? or PNP? |
Re: Yes more newbies
Thanks all for your replies.. We were going to apply through the PNP but have just found out this morning that The Calgary Police are suspending all applications because they have had so many so we bit shell shocked. We can still apply under the skilled workers. We had looked at Cochrane and also McKenzie Towne and Strathmore. But all advice about everything is welcome. Just want out of Scotland. Love the place hate the people and the NED culture.

Re: Yes more newbies
Also have a look at Okotoks and High River. I have lived in Okotoks since 2005 having left the UK and can give you any help I can.
Both towns have a modern yet western feel to them and you're not far from great countryside, mountains etc without having the hustle and bustle of city life. Calgary is about 20 minutes away. Okotoks in particular is booming and has everything to offer. There is a website for the town of okotoks if you do a search. Good luck and if you need anything else either reply on here or PM me. Cheers. |
