Default Yee haa and Canada eh! and all that jazz

We're heeeeeere!! Firstly brrrrrr..... but secondly and absolutely mostly - YAAAAAAAY!!!! We are so happy to be here it's awesome!! It has been the biggest rush ever and I never thought that it would all come together in time to get on the blasted plane but it did... emotional farewells but some good solid promises for visits (bro already lined up for January LOL)

Flight was great, loads of legroom - def get and upgrade if you can, Zoom were great and really comfy, although we did have the cast of Degrassi High in there with us LOL (not the real ones of course)

Immigration were great, friendly and welcoming even if the damn computers broke just as we were at the head of the queue!! LOL, still we got chatting to a few others there so it passed the time

The drive up was great - got lost finding the rental house but no worries - coulda got done for attempted burglary as we were trying the wrong house!!!

Since then everyone has been very helpful and welcoming - from the SIN people to the phone people and our friends here have been awesome!!

So all in all, first 10 days, whirlwind but worth it and long may it continue!! (well the worth it not the whirlwind cos that'd just knacker us out LOL)

PC up and running at last Ki

Good to hear you are settling in well.
How cold was it today !!!!!!!!!! I was gonna say this is about as cold as it gets, but I'd probably be lying.

Bye for now

Welcome to Alberta Ki, I hope you continue to enjoy living in our fair province.

R2D2 you might well be lying if you said that this is as cold as it gets but it's not very often that it gets colder than this. Yes it happens maybe even once or twice a winter, but not as often as some would have us believe.

You should hear them whining down here in Calgary.

You'd think we'd been moved to the tropics in the last ten years and all of the sudden reality smacked has them in the face. Much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Cheers
Steve

Welp...... they do say these are record breaking temps for November, the previous low being -27! It was -29 when I went to work today.

I can't see that Calgary drivers cope that well with it though, form the number of accidents I have seen in the last few days!

It would help greatly if the City did a much better job of snow removal and sanding.

This city needs to spend way more on snow removal and road sanding than it does. It seems the prime method is wait for a chinook to come along and melt it.

However we get what we pay for and according to most surveys in the past people are not willing to pay higher taxes for better snow removal. They just want to complain.

Welcome Ki, glad things are going smoothly! Just keep telling yourselves "it's a dry cold" - supposedly this makes a difference!

I am amazed at the lack of snow removal here in Edmonton - in both Halifax and Toronto snow plows are out clearing the roads even before it stops snowing! Apparently the city of Edmonton does not even own its own plows - something about contracting out and calling them up whenever they are needed? You would think the northern-most major city in Canada would spring for a few plows.
