Incidentally, I have behind me now a fourth year university student. She could live with me if she so chose, or with her mother in the suburbs. She doesn't though, she has a half share in a nice rented house paid for by her part time job. Her roommate also pays for her half from student work so they're walking proof that students can support themselves off campus; so long as someone else picks up the tuition bill.

Not saying it isnt possible just sounds like another Ruth Lawrence to me!!!! I did my highers at 15 too, sat them in the May and didn't turn 16 until late September. I was the only one of that age in my year but I don't think it's that unusual overall. |

Hi,
Our daughter is in her first year at Uni in London, On. coming from UK with 3 A Levels. She arrived on July 1st and started in Uni on Sept. 4th. In hindsight, I wish we havd sent her to highschool for Grade 13, which is possible here in Ontario. It would have enabled her to make a few friends and 'learn' how to be a canadian teenager as well as to get a feel for the education system. It would also have given us time to qualify to apply for grants, etc. We had to pay a year's full fees and can apply for grants this year. We live half an hour from Uni, but our daughter has lived in residence in the hope that it would help her to assimilate more easily. She is just about finding her feet now. She will be 19 next week. It was difficult to know what to do - she naturally was not keen at all on the idea of doing an extra year at school, but I am sure she would have actually enjoyed it. With your child only being 15/16 and having to be far from home your choice might be even harder to make. Here's hoping this sheds some light. Regards and all the best, Zeppelin4 |

Check out the colleges listed on www.psea.bc.ca There is a college at Fraser Valley. Why don't you email them to ask advice (and explain, very clearly, very patiently, what her equivalents are as they will just balk at the age and think she is supposed to be in grade 10
