wrong time to immigrate?

ive been doing a lot of research into moving to canada and im thinking with the economy the way it is right now it could be a bad time to move to canada. i have also noticed that even people who are qualified for something in the UK have to go through a lot of retraining or requalifying before they are allowed to work in canada. does anyone think that for someone like me who has yet to start their career should wait a few years before attempting to move? it seems that i could move to canada, retrain there to be an accountant, struggle to find work, perhaps having to move back to UK.

if you are qualified here, id say apply for the visa with no work arranged. that way you will get your really slow visa application started, and in 3-4 years your visa will come thru and hopefully the economy will have recovered.
or you can go out there and take your chances, bear in mind, even in canada and even in a recession there are two things people will always use eventually... death and taxes.

Except that skilled worker visas only take 6-12 months now, and unless the OP has at least one years experience on the list of 38 'occupations in demand', he'll need a job offer approved by HRSDC to be eligible anyway.

I wouldn't bet on sustaining a career in death for too much longer the way that life extension research is going :).
