Exactly. My thoughts were that if I'm going to uproot my life, leave friends and family behind it better be for somewhere I really want to be, so climate, lifestyle, geography etc etc were key criteria. If I'd not been able to find work in areas I wanted to move to I wouldn't have compromised and moved. I already lived in a great part of England, so it had to be a measurable improvement.

You seem to be obsessed with this comparison, I don't know why but my personal view is that Calgary is the best place to live in western Canada and Ottawa is the best place to live in eastern Canada. There is more between Nova Scotia and BC than just Toronto.
