Would like some advice
I'm due to have telephone interviews for 2 jobs, one in vancouver and one on vancouver island. The one in vancouver is this week and the one on VI said that they will contact me asap, ? when.
If I get offered the one in vancouver, do I accept the offer , as the saying goes, one in the hand, or do I wait until I hear from the one on vi (which I prefer) , who might never ring. I know I haven't got either yet, but I thought they would want some indication of whether I'll accept the job when they ring. Thanks for your help Terese:unsure: |
Re: Would like some advice
Hi
I would accept the first job if offered it. You can always withdraw your interest later if you get offered the other and decide that that's actually the one that you want instead. You can't however decline the first job and then change your mind that you want it. Never decline a job offer, you can't change your mind. You can always change your mind if you accept it though. Hedge your bets, that's my advice. Good Luck with the interviews. Very jealous! Mel:) |

Mel:) I'm in a quandry because thats what I was going to do but my OH said wait until the second as its not fair to lead the first one on, but I want a job and the second one even though they said they would ring ,might be moving on already! Thanks:) Ps what kind of line are you in? Terese:) |
Re: Would like some advice
Despite your OH advice, it's not leading anyone on.
I'm a manager and interview people all the time and always have a second in mind just incase, It's standard. You have only yourself to look out for and the best company/offer which is right for you will win out in the end. Self-preservation is the key and all's fair in love and....employment!:) |

Very pleased to be of service!
Good Luck, let us know how you get on. |
Re: Would like some advice
I would agree - accept whatever you get offered! If you get offered both & accept both then you may even have room for negotiation on salary etc... I think it is unlikely that they would offer you anything on the first phonecall - I had two phone interviews & was offered my job by email a couple of weeks later.
Good luck & relax - you'll do fine! Scott |
