Worst question ever
As title says... everything is almost in place to come over...also coming over in November for a week to check out schools and areas (steinbach and areas near about 40 mins drive south of Winnipeg)..question is how safe is it? On a few Facebook groups and news channel and they are always on about murders and car accident deaths ( distracted driving)..now I know there is crime everywhere...last year our house got ransacked and few months later all the cars in village got screwed over ..I also know drugs are readily available at local bars if that's what floats your boat...but that's all it seams to be on social media and so on...bad news seems to be all social media report on...good news doesn't sell I suppose and over here you may hear about 10 murders a year up here...just looking for maybe a bit reassure it's all fine...as long as my kids will be ok..don't know what am am looking for yous to say really...hope all that makes sense...I also know steinbach is not Winnipeg.

Re: Worst question ever
Steinbach certainly isn't Winnipeg It was only a few years ago that Steinbach voted to allow the sale of alcohol in establishments within the town

Dont believe everything you read on social media. I would certainly feel safer in Steinbach than Winnipeg and you certainly won't be short of churches to attend in that area although most cater to the Mennonites and speaking German might come in handy

Re: Worst question ever
Unless you are planning on being a drug dealer, or joining a street gang, there is a very small chance in you being involved in a crime as a victim in Winnipeg.
I drive 2,500 kilometers a week, I'm a medical courier, have been for 7 years, not had a single person has driven into me. Not that it doesn't happen, but again very small chance if you are an average citizen.

Re: Worst question ever
We started off in "Winnipeg" - We looked at Steinbach - the property was very affordable but (I forget now) ........ Steinbach has a high population of Mennonite if I re call correctly
We ended up in Selkirk - 30 min North of Winnipeg for our term in Manitoba before moving to Kingston Ontario
There's a massive amount of options dependent on your finances and preferences - Keep an open mind - Rent a vehicle and have a good look around
It'll be bloody cold in November - Cold like you've never experienced !!
I liked Winnipeg - No confusion if it was summer or winter
