Seem to remember during Euro 2004, most Canadians suddenly remembered their heritage - "I'm supporting Greece, because my Great Grandmothers cousins best friend was Greek, besides, they're playing against England."

Brazeeeeeeeeeeeeel!

Pele was my idol as a lad, love the samba, and Brazil's got a great team.

So, in answering the OP's question, YES: if the US pulls some kind of miracle/fluke and gets in the way of this, I hope they sink faster than a Bush "joke" about legally blind reporters wearing sunglasses! :D

I'll even hope for an England or Italy success over the US. In fact, on second thought, US who?

Can't wait to hear what Stephen Colbert will say about this on his show tonight. :D

Last night, he was saying how even though Americans don't really give a toss about footy, he was really starting to "get into this World Cup thing" himself. So, he decided to start with enthusiastically doing what Americans do best in these situations: slag off and belittle every opponent the US is up against. (Esp. tiny African countries up against big, mean "U! S! A!...U! S! A!")

So, he started right in on how "Ghan-orrhea" were gonna' get their asses whooped! :D Too funny!

(For those unaware, Stephen Colbert is a comedian, and a very funny one. He's a 'fake' Bill O'Reilly-type TV pundit, in the same manner as Jon Stewart is a 'fake' news reporter. And Colbert's 'fake' rebuttals/apologies are ALWAYS 20 times more funny than the original story he's apologising for. I can't wait!)
