Working children
Hi
I was wondering of anyone could help me please?
My 6 year old daughter has an opportunity to do some modelling work but I was wondering does she need a work permit?
My husband has a work permit associated with his job and I have an open one.
I would appreciate any advise and/or experience you have on this.
Many thanks

Re: Working children
My daughter is 14 and is a model. We've never been asked for proof of our residency (PR) so I doubt they'll care. Good luck, as a parent its flipping hard work, lots of travel and hanging around, have you checked out the agency before hand?

If you are PR then it's ok - BUT if you and hubby are on TWP then your kids cant get a SIN number or work - it should say no working say on their student visa. We have come up against the same thing - well IN BC - Kids wanted to do extra work, acting, but cant have a sin number til we get PR !

Re: Working children
Sorry, but she's not supposed to work at all. In Alberta (one of only 2 provinces to do this), there is a pilot scheme for children of TWP holders to get their own work permits, but the minimum age is 18 - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/informa...work-faq09.asp
She shouldn't be working without a work permit, but it's up to you whether or not to risk it.
HTH.

Re: Working children
Children under the age of 12 are not permitted to work in Alberta at all.

(Shame you don't live in BC as they allow performer permits).
As to the work permit, the minimum age in Alberta is 18.

Ooops - sorry, this part was already posted..

Re: Working children
What about children working if living in Canada with parents who have Provincial Nomination and a work permit as a result of the nomination? (In our case Nova Scotia)
