Work Permit at Port of Entry
 

Does anyone have experience of getting a work permit at port of entry (with LMO) and bringing their wife along who isn't from a country that is visa exempt?

I'm British so as far as I can tell I can apply at POE with an approved LMO. She is Trinidadian so not visa exempt (although she has had Canadian visitor visas in the past).

My to be employer has lawyers working on the immigration side but I wanted to get any real life experiences.

Incidentally we'll coming by road, not through an airport.

She requires a TRV, no matter what your status is. As long as you have the LMO, passport, (criminal records check in most cases) then you won't have any problems receiving a work permit.

Just so I can confirm I understand. She would not be able to get a open work permit at port of entry like she would be able to if she was British also.

Correct she needs to apply from outside of Canada as she requires a TRV.
